Custom Picture
Frames
Custom picture
frames are a great choice if you cannot find a suitable
picture frame for your photo or if you have an item (such
as a Jersey) that you wish to frame and cannot find a
frame to fit it. We do not recommend framing everything
you would like to frame with custom picture frames as it
can be quite pricey.

However, since it
is ‘custom’ framing, other things you would like to frame
can probably be negotiated and framed as
well.
When designing a
custom picture frame, there are several aspects of the
frame that you should keep in mind. These are the areas
that will be customized on a picture frame and will make
all the difference between an ideal or an appalling
frame.
Molding
Styles
Molding styles are
the way the custom picture frame is molded, or shaped.
There are many different possible ways this can be done
and will all give the framed item a different look and
feel.
Contemporary
Molds
These are look
very snazzy and new. There is a fresh feel about them as
though they have just been created. The contemporary look
is well suited for digital pictures or recent jerseys and
t-shirts that you have.
Antique
Moldings
These are the
opposite of contemporary molds; they look like a picture
frame that has survived through many generations and
still stands proudly, displaying the item inside. The
antique look is better suited for any black and white or
old photos that you may have, as well as retro jerseys of
you favorite players.
Hand-Finished
Frames
These are by far
the most costly but can be a combination of several
different styles making it the most unique type of custom
picture frame. These should be used to frame any photos
or items that you find the most precious. If done right,
framers can incorporate many different designs into the
frame. Although expensive, if done properly, will light
up any room it’s placed in.
Building
Material
The material of
which the frame is built from is just as important as it
greatly contributes to the style. It is difficult to
portrait a contemporary feel with a wooden frame and
likewise, is difficult to portrait an antique feel with a
silver frame.
Wooden
Frames
A wooden frame is
a very popular building material for antique frames since
more picture frames built before contemporary times were
made from wood. A wooden frame can also be carved and
shaped for very unique designs engraved in the wood
itself and unlike metal engravings, looks far more
natural. These are probably best suited for photos only
as it looks strange and awkward when casing a 3D
item
Metalized
Frames
These frames
aren’t always pure metal, but it has a metallic look and
is usually at least partially metal. These are best
suited for contemporary looks as it provides a glaring
radiance when shined upon by light. This type of custom
picture frame can be used for photos and items alike.
They work especially well when placed in a room with a
lot of light, enhancing the glow of the frame and
framed.
There are hundreds
of different combinations of these types of custom
picture frames which can result in hundreds of different
types of frames. Hopefully this page helped you choose
which type of custom picture frame you want to construct
to fully suit the photo you hope to
frame.
